At Datatel we design and build all data centre’s with at least a 2 hour fire rating that exceeds Australian standards, which limits the spread of fire into the data centre to protect the data contained inside. This is coupled with low combustion product selection to reduce acceleration of fire and the toxic smoke it produces.
All of the major international data centre standards either recommend or require installation of an aspirated smoke detection system within the computer room and its ceiling and floor voids. These are precision detection devices that are design to detect the presence of chemicals associated with combustion prior to traditional smoke detectors.
The early detection of smoke allows for a properly design and installed gaseous suppression system to limit the spread of any fire and keep damage and data loss to a minimum.
